VIEDA’s Enterprise Zone Commission to host estate planning conference on St. Croix and St. Thomas on March 20

CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands – March 15, 2024 – To assist with promoting legal transfer of property to preserve assets within U.S. Virgin Islands families and the community, the Enterprise Zone Commission (EZC), an entity of the Virgin Islands Economic Development Authority (VIEDA), is hosting a free, in-person and virtual Estate Planning Conference from 5:30PM to 8PM on Wednesday, March 20, 2024.

MAINTENANCE WORKER I

Under the direct supervision of the Director, Physical Plant, this position will perform groundskeeping, general maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, cooling, and other building systems and responds to other emergency maintenance requests as needed.

Virgin Islands Economic Development Authority postpones March 14 Board Meeting

VIEDA Board Meeting set for February 27, 2024

CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands – February 23, 2024 — Wayne L. Biggs, Jr., chief executive officer of the Virgin Islands Economic Development Authority (VIEDA), announces that a Public Hearing is scheduled for the Virgin Islands Economic Development Commission (VIEDC), a subsidiary of the VIEDA, at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2024.  

During the Public Hearing, the Board of Directors will hear testimonies from two (2) new companies seeking VIEDC tax incentives on the island of St. Thomas, listed below:

Programs and Grants Compliance Officer I - STX

Under the direction of the Managing Director, Enterprise Zone Commission, this position provides assistance with the implementation and monitoring of federal and local grants, beneficiaries receiving EZC tax credits, tax exemptions, and trade zone benefits. Additionally, monitors community activities, and prepares quarterly and annual reports on the department’s progress. This position is responsible for spearheading the monitoring of beneficiaries and activities regarding compliance of applicable laws and regulations on both St. Thomas and St. Croix.

VIEDA announces early office closure on February 7, 2024

CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands – February 7, 2024 — TThe Virgin Islands Economic Development Authority (VIEDA) informs the general public that, due to inclement weather conditions, its offices in the St. Croix and St. Thomas/John Districts will close at 2:00 p.m. today, February 7, 2024. It is expected that normal office hours will resume tomorrow, February 8, 2024 at 8:00 a.m., if weather conditions improve.

Governing Board Reconvenes VIEDC Decision Meeting on February 6, 2024

CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands – February 2, 2024 — Wayne L. Biggs, Jr., chief executive officer of the Virgin Islands Economic Development Authority (VIEDA), announces that the decision meeting recessed on January 25, 2024 will reconvene on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at 9:00 AM to consider application and compliance matters related to the Virgin Islands Economic Development Commission (VIEDC).  

VIEDA announces shortened office hours for January 31, 2024

CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands – January 30, 2024 — The Virgin Islands Economic Development Authority (VIEDA) informs the public that its offices in St. Croix and St. Thomas will close at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, for an agency-wide meeting. Normal business hours will resume at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 1, 2024.
