Vision 2040 to Report Survey Results and Emerging Goals and Strategies

St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, December 10, 2020 -- The Virgin Islands Economic Development Authority (VIEDA) will conduct a series of virtual town halls next week to report survey results and get initial public feedback on the emerging goals and strategies for “Vision 2040,” the 20-year economic development plan being developed by the VIEDA, its CEO, Wayne L. Biggs, Jr., announced today.

The island-specific meetings will take place from 6:00pm to 7:30pm on Tuesday, December 15th (St. John), Wednesday, December 16th (St. Thomas) and Thursday, December 17th (St. Croix).

“We’re nearing the end of the initial public engagement phase of our project, and we certainly have a lot to share!” Mr. Biggs said. “Between surveys of residents on each island as well as the ‘diaspora’ currently living on the U.S. Mainland and elsewhere in the world, we’ve generated responses from more than 2,000 Virgin Islanders. Several virtual town halls yielded even more feedback, and we’re looking forward to reporting the results.”

The town halls will be carried through Zoom as well as livestreamed on the Vision 2040 Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/USVI2040) and carried by the Government Access Channel.  The schedule and Zoom links are as follows:

“Along with the survey findings, the VIEDA and Camoin 310, the economic development consulting firm hired for the federally-funded project, will present the emerging goals and strategies for Vision 2040 followed by feedback from the audience”, Mr. Biggs said.
