Mac Private Equity Inc. is not a beneficiary of the VIEDC Tax Incentive Program, VIEDA CEO confirms

CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands – April 4, 2024 - Wayne L. Biggs Jr., Chief Executive Officer of the Virgin Islands Economic Development Authority (“VIEDA”) denies any claims that Mac Private Equity Inc. or MPE Clearing & Holdings, Inc. are beneficiaries of the Virgin Islands Economic Development Commission’s (“VIEDC”) Tax Incentive Program.  VIEDA CEO Biggs’s denial is in response to an article published in the VI Consortium on April 3rd regarding a lawsuit filed in the District Court of the Virgin Islands against Mac Private Equity Inc.

Telephone services restored at V.I. Economic Development Authority office on St. Thomas

CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands – April 2, 2024 – The Virgin Islands Economic Development Authority (VIEDA) advises the public that the telephone service at the VIEDA office at 8000 Nisky Center, Suite No. 620 on St. Thomas, USVI, is now restored for the VIEDA team to make and receive external calls.  

For assistance, the public may call the VIEDA office at 340-714-1700 (St. Thomas) and 340-773-6499 (St. Croix).

VIEDA Telephone System Temporarily Unavailable on St. Thomas

CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands – April 2, 2024 – The Virgin Islands Economic Development Authority (“VIEDA”) issues a public advisory regarding the current unavailability of the telephone system on St. Thomas. Director, Compliance

Under the direct supervision of the Managing Director, Economic Development, this position leads, plans, directs, coordinates and drives all activities of the Economic Development Commission (EDC) Compliance Division to ensure compliance with Federal and Local Law, regulations and standard operating procedures. Also, supervises and reports activities to the appropriate internal and external stakeholders to minimize legal risks by understanding current and proposed legislation, enforcing regulations, recommending new procedures, and complying with legal requirements.

VIEDA offices to close for two-hours on March 19 to conduct staff meeting

CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands – March 18, 2024 — The Virgin Islands Economic Development Authority (VIEDA) announces that the VIEDA offices in the districts of St. Croix and St. Thomas/John will be closed to the public from 10AM to 12PM on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 to allow employees to assemble for a VIEDA staff meeting.

Normal office hours will resume thereafter from 12PM to 5PM.

VIEDA’s Enterprise Zone Commission to host estate planning conference on St. Croix and St. Thomas on March 20

CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands – March 15, 2024 – To assist with promoting legal transfer of property to preserve assets within U.S. Virgin Islands families and the community, the Enterprise Zone Commission (EZC), an entity of the Virgin Islands Economic Development Authority (VIEDA), is hosting a free, in-person and virtual Estate Planning Conference from 5:30PM to 8PM on Wednesday, March 20, 2024.

MAINTENANCE WORKER I

Under the direct supervision of the Director, Physical Plant, this position will perform groundskeeping, general maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, cooling, and other building systems and responds to other emergency maintenance requests as needed.

Virgin Islands Economic Development Authority postpones March 14 Board Meeting

VIEDA Board Meeting set for February 27, 2024

Biggs, Jr., chief executive officer of the Virgin Islands Economic Development Authority (VIEDA), announces that a Public Hearing is scheduled for the Virgin Islands Economic Development Commission (VIEDC), a subsidiary of the VIEDA, at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2024.

VIEDA announces early office closure on February 7, 2024

CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands – February 7, 2024 — TThe Virgin Islands Economic Development Authority (VIEDA) informs the general public that, due to inclement weather conditions, its offices in the St. Croix and St. Thomas/John Districts will close at 2:00 p.m. today, February 7, 2024. It is expected that normal office hours will resume tomorrow, February 8, 2024 at 8:00 a.m., if weather conditions improve.
