CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands – April 21, 2022 — The Enterprise Zone Commission (EZC), an entity of the Virgin Islands Economic Development Authority (VIEDA), in collaboration with the Virgin Islands Council on the Arts (VICA), an agency within the V.I. Department of Planning and Natural Resources, will re-open the doors of the popular “Made in the USVI” Pop-Up Store during the Virgin Islands Carnival season on St. Thomas.
This store will feature U.S. Virgin Islands’ talent through locally-made products by various small manufacturers and artisans and will be available to USVI residents and visitors.
Dates:
- Monday through Friday, April 25-29, 2022 from 10a.m.-6p.m.
- Saturday, April 30, 2022 from 10a.m.-2p.m.
Location:
Virgin Islands Council on the Arts building
5070 Norre Gade, (First floor)
St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands
This store will be located in the white building facing Fort Christian in the vicinity of the Emancipation Garden and across from the Frederick Evangelical Lutheran Church on Norre Gade in downtown Charlotte Amalie.
“Once again, the VIEDA and VICA team members are looking forward to hosting small manufacturers from St. Thomas who create several USVI products within the spa, book, clothing and art industries – along with gift and home items – which will be featured again at the store,” said Nadine T. Marchena Kean, managing director, EZC. “Although through popular demand the “Made in the USVI” Pop Up Shops thrived during the pandemic, having the “Made in the USVI” Pop Up Shop re-open in April is a tremendous complement to the Virgin Islands Carnival festivities that are resuming in the USVI beginning on St. Thomas since the pandemic started,” added Mrs. Marchena Kean.
The “Made in the USVI” Pop-Up Store will also be a place for small manufacturers and artisans to safely collaborate and develop partnerships with each other. Pop-Up Stores are short-term stores that are temporarily established in an available space to allow customers to experience products of a business first-hand. The “Made in the USVI” Pop Up Store continues to be one of the business support systems the VIEDA utilizes and is among such systems reflected in Vision 2040 (Volume 5: “Economic Opportunities“, page no. 194) for the USVI.
To ensure the safety and health of the store’s vendors and patrons during the COVID-19 pandemic, mask-wearing is required and temperature checks will be taken at the door. There will also be a hand sanitizer and a hand-washing station at the store.
