VIEDA, Entrepreneurs Incubator Institute to offer free course on entrepreneurship

CHARLOTTE AMALIE, U.S. Virgin Islands — St. Thomas, USVI – October 10, 2014 – The V.I. Economic Development Authority (VIEDA) will host a class for aspiring entrepreneurs and business owners that are seeking to learn how to overcome today’s challenges in order to succeed in their business. This class titled, “The Dynamics of Entrepreneurship 101”, will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the V.I. Small Business Development Center at 4100 Sion Farm Shopping Center, Suite 16, Christiansted, St. Croix, USVI.

Devin Robinson, chief executive officer of the Entrepreneurs Incubator Institute and a native of the U.S. Virgin Islands, will conduct this first of a series of classes under the Entrepreneurs Incubator Institute’s Entrepreneurial Development Program. This is a 12-month program in which classes will be held once a month for four (4) hours.

“At the EII, I delve into the mindset of individuals that will allow them to determine where they want to go in business. This class is for entrepreneurs and employees of businesses owners, business owners who desire to provide their employees with an exposure to the concept of business management,” said Robinson.

Class topics will include, “What Makes Entrepreneurs Tick ? An Approach that Works”, “Making Raw Ideas Earn”, “Capitalism vs. Altruism”, “Pricing Strategies”, “Productive Networking”, and “Understanding Business Relationships”.  Attendees will also learn how to develop the proper mindset for owning a business.

According to the VIEDA’s Chief Executive Officer Percival E. Clouden, “It is certainly a great opportunity for us at the VIEDA to work with individuals such as Devin Robinson. Mr. Robinson has not only been successful in his own businesses but has a strong desire to give back to the V.I. community by sharing his experiences and training others on how to prepare themselves to be entrepreneurs.”

A graduate of the University of Phoenix and the University of Georgia, Robinson has been the CEO of the EII since 2012 and believes in an individual’s ability to transcend from being an employee to an employer. Robinson, who is also the founder of the Beauty Supply Institute (BSI), is the author of eight self-help books including his recent book titled, “Power M.OV.E.: How to Become a Successful Entrepreneur”. Robinson utilizes his Power M.O.V.E. philosophies, a methodical model of how to transition into entrepreneurship and business ownership.

Robinson is a former Pulitzer Prize-winning newspaper columnist for the Virgin Islands Daily News, an activist, speaker, and lecturer. He is a former instructor at Southern Crescent Technical College in Griffin, Georgia, at which he taught for four years; a former adjunct professor teaching business & economics classes to college students at Oglethorpe University where he taught for six years; and a former retail management professor at Bellevue University in Lincoln, Nebraska.
